[edit] The core component - facet driven architecture

The core system architecture will be governed by a facet database, respecting and extending Dublin Core metadata with free-input and processing of user-input metadata.

[edit] The basic metadata stored

From the Dublin Core specification,

  • Contributor (user, unless inherited)
  • Coverage (topic)
  • Creator (user, unless inherited)
  • Date (timestamp)
  • Description
  • Format (filetype/mimetype)
  • Identifier (filesystem resource identifier)
  • Language
  • Publisher
  • Relation (related resource)
  • Rights
  • Source
  • Subject
  • Title (File name)
  • Type (Genre, not filetype)

[edit] Plus additional, local types

  • Group
  • Permissions (required?)
  • Tags
  • Size (required?)
  • Recipient
  • Location (traditional dir/dir location)

[edit] The facet map taxonomy elements
